1. Purpose and clinical relevance

Blood-pressure management is frequently a contributing skilled element in a Part A stay — a resident on parameter-based antihypertensives after a cardiac or neurological event, one being titrated to target, or one at risk of hypertensive urgency. The skilled work is the parameter-based BP assessment and the judgment to hold, give, or escalate; standalone stable hypertension is generally not a skilled qualifier, so this overlay is documented honestly as part of the larger post-acute picture.

This overlay proves, on the days it applies, that skilled BP observation, management and evaluation, teaching, or a covered procedure contributed to the reasonable-and-necessary daily skilled need under Pub. 100-02 Chapter 8. Use it with the Cardiovascular reference and the primary diagnosis driving the stay.
