Assess BP against the ordered parameters and apply hold/give/escalate judgment; obtain orthostatics where indicated.
Administer and monitor antihypertensives and document tolerance; coordinate labs (renal function, electrolytes) as ordered.
Recognize hypertensive urgency/emergency and over-treatment early with parameter-based escalation and fall-risk management.
Teaching / training (to mastery)
Teach the resident/representative BP goals, medication purpose and adherence, orthostatic-safety measures, and the warning signs of uncontrolled hypertension, with teach-back.
Train CNAs on accurate BP measurement, orthostatic-safety assistance, and prompt reporting of symptoms or a BP outside parameters, with documented understanding.
