6. Red flags — escalate / transfer

🚩 Red flags

Airway compromise from oral swelling/bleeding — post-surgical swelling, angioedema, or bleeding threatening the airway — protect the airway and activate EMS/transfer.

Spreading oral/deep-space infection — Ludwig-angina signs (floor-of-mouth swelling, difficulty swallowing/breathing), fever, or systemic signs — emergency evaluation/transfer.

Severe mucositis with dehydration/inability to swallow — escalate for pain and nutrition/hydration support.

Post-operative hemorrhage (e.g., post-extraction/oral surgery) not controlled with pressure — escalate/transfer.
