2. What to assess, technique, and required data

Design and document a measurable program and its delivery:

  • Baseline function (Section GG) and the specific restorative techniques ordered (e.g., ROM, ambulation, transfer training, splint/brace, restorative dining).
  • Minutes per day per technique and the number of days delivered in the 7-day look-back (O0500 requires the technique be provided for 15 or more minutes a day).
  • Resident participation, tolerance, and progress toward the measurable goal; periodic RN re-evaluation of the program.

MDS-supportive data

Restorative techniques are coded in MDS Section O0500 when provided for 15+ minutes a day; the record must document the technique, minutes/day, and days delivered so the coding is supported (F641). Function links to Section GG.
