Scenario

Post-tympanoplasty care

Day 4: operative ear with a clean dressing, no purulent drainage, mild fullness only, no fever, surgeon precautions (water precautions, no nose-blowing) observed/reinforced. Covered skilled ear care with complication surveillance; supports Section B.

Hearing-deficit management

Hearing aid in place and functioning with fresh batteries, communication strategies used, resident participating in the skilled teaching/therapy the corrected hearing enables. Skilled management to enable participation and rule out pseudo-confusion required; supports Section B.

Post-mastoidectomy, stable

Operative site clean, no drainage or facial weakness, precautions observed, pain controlled. Skilled post-operative observation and precaution enforcement required; supports the ear goal.
