Measure the limb and apply compression per order with skin care; protect the at-risk limb (no BP/venipuncture).
Provide skilled surveillance for cellulitis and escalate early; provide post-node-dissection site and drain care.
Distinguish worsening lymphedema from a superimposed DVT or infection and coordinate the workup.
Teaching / training (to mastery)
Teach the resident/representative compression use, skin care and infection prevention, limb protection, and the warning signs of cellulitis, with return-demonstration/teach-back.
Train CNAs on limb protection, skin inspection, and reporting erythema/warmth/fever, with documented understanding.
