The female reproductive system drives a skilled course chiefly through gynecologic surgery. After a hysterectomy, pelvic-prolapse repair, or oncologic gynecologic surgery, a resident needs skilled post-operative care, surveillance for hemorrhage and — after a hysterectomy — for vaginal-cuff dehiscence (a rare but serious complication), and VTE-prophylaxis and infection surveillance. Pessary management for prolapse requires skilled care, and the dependent resident needs skilled perineal care. The skilled work is the post-operative surveillance, the bleeding watch, and the specialized care.
This module proves, on the days it applies, that skilled gynecologic post-operative care and observation was reasonable, necessary, and part of the daily skilled need under Pub. 100-02 Chapter 8. The assessment is the same as in home care; the coverage spine is re-pointed. Continence routes to Continence; perineal skin to External Genitalia; anticoagulation to its overlay.
