Provide bleeding-precaution management and bleeding surveillance for thrombocytopenia and infection precautions and fever surveillance for neutropenia.
Recognize and immediately manage a transfusion reaction and a neutropenic fever with prompt escalation.
Teaching / training (to mastery)
Teach the resident/representative bleeding or infection precautions (as applicable), the warning signs, and the purpose of the transfusion/therapy, with teach-back.
Train CNAs on bleeding/infection precautions and reporting fever, bleeding, or a transfusion-reaction sign immediately, with documented understanding.
