Objective — observe

• Pulses by site (amplitude and symmetry; Doppler if absent); capillary refill.
• Color (pallor on elevation, dependent rubor, cyanosis, mottling), temperature, and skin, hair, and nails.
• Edema (grade, level, symmetry, and whether pitting); ulcers (location and characteristics).
• Unilateral calf swelling, warmth, or erythema; compression-garment fit.
