Physician or provider notification Notify the provider for new or worsening retention, a post-operative complication, a new testicular mass, or infection signs; document the finding, the time, the orders received, and the follow-through.
Escalate emergently and activate EMS for acute severe testicular pain concerning for torsion, an incarcerated or strangulated hernia, or signs of a necrotizing perineal infection, and for acute retention arrange urgent decompression, and document the closed loop.
