  • The anaphylaxis action plan and epinephrine auto-injector technique — that epinephrine is given first and EMS called immediately — with caregiver return demonstration.
  • Allergen avoidance — identifying and eliminating known triggers in the home.
  • Infection precautions for immunosuppressed patients — hand hygiene, avoiding sick contacts, food and pet precautions — and that any fever is urgent, with return demonstration.
  • Immunosuppressant purpose, adherence, and the signs of toxicity to report.
  • The early signs of a reaction and to act before it progresses.
  • When to call the agency versus when to give epinephrine and activate EMS.
