Two immune realities dominate home care: a patient at risk for anaphylaxis can die within minutes if epinephrine is delayed, and an immunosuppressed patient can be overwhelmed by an infection that begins as a single fever. The skilled value of this domain is reaction-readiness and infection surveillance — ensuring the auto-injector is present and the plan is understood, and treating any fever in immunosuppression as urgent. Documentation that records “no reaction” without checking the plan and the auto-injector does not prove a nurse was required; ensuring anaphylaxis readiness and recognizing a neutropenic fever does.
The purpose of this module is to give the clinician the framework for allergy assessment, anaphylaxis recognition and response, immunocompromise and infection surveillance, immunosuppressant monitoring, and allergen avoidance — and the chartable language that demonstrates observation and assessment, skilled procedure, and teaching and training, with the airway routed to Respiratory and neutropenia to Hematologic.
