Perineal skin conditions support homebound status through the need for intensive skilled skin and wound care; document the patient-specific evidence when present and do not overstate it.

Perineal-skin-related evidence that supports homebound status

  • A perineal wound or breakdown requiring intensive skilled care and containment that, with other factors, makes leaving home a taxing effort.
  • Incontinence with a high skin-breakdown risk requiring skilled management that limits leaving home.
  • A perineal infection or device-site condition that limits leaving home.
  • A need for assistance and a taxing effort to leave home where perineal skin management is ongoing.
