- Skilled review and interpretation of the glucose pattern against individualized targets, with regimen-effect evaluation.
- Direct observation and correction of insulin, pump, and monitoring technique.
- Treatment of hypo- or hyperglycemia per protocol, including glucagon administration where ordered.
- Diabetic foot inspection and coordination of the protective-sensation screen and wound care (cross-reference Touch/Sensation and Wounds).
- Skilled teaching of monitoring, medication, sick-day rules, and rescue, to competence with return demonstration.
- Coordination with the provider for regimen adjustment and with Nutrition, the Diabetes overlay, and Neck/Thyroid as indicated.
