Mouth / Oral Cavity / Dentition / Throat
The lips, oral mucosa, gingiva, dentition and dentures, tongue, and pharynx. Routed here: oral hygiene, oral lesions and candidiasis, dry mouth, dental pain, denture fit, and airway-relevant oral and throat findings. The mechanics of swallowing and aspiration risk live in Taste/Swallowing; the effect of oral problems on intake is shared with Nutrition; airway-threatening oral swelling is shared with Allergic/Immunologic; oral bleeding is shared with the Anticoagulation overlay.
This module supplies the structural oral, dental, and throat examination and oral-hygiene assessment — with the skilled language that proves the care took a licensed nurse. It owns the condition of the mouth; the mechanics of swallowing and aspiration risk are documented in Taste/Swallowing, and the nutritional impact of poor oral status in Nutrition.
